It’s easy to get wrapped up in emotions when going through a custody dispute. But at Battino Law PLLC, we strongly believe that in most cases, it’s in the best interest for all parties to work together for the well-being and best interest of the child.

If the parents cannot reach an agreement, the judge will make the custody ruling. The court will then create a permanent parenting plan, which will address all issues regarding the well-being of the child(ren).

Tennessee Child Custody Law

In Tennessee, child custody is divided into two parts:

In most cases, joint custody is preferable. For this reason, joint custody is the most common custody arrangement. Parents can have joint custody, but that does not necessarily mean that time is divided equally. When having joint custody, it is rare to have a true 50/50 split.
